AUSSTELLUNGSCALL 2026: "URBANES LEBEN"

Städte sind Orte der Bewegung, der Erinnerung, der Widersprüche und des Wandels. Sie sind Räume, in denen Gemeinschaften gedeihen, Kulturen aufeinandertreffen, sich Geschichte verdichtet und Zukunft entworfen wird. Das urbane Leben wird ebenso von Architektur und Infrastruktur geprägt wie von den Menschen, die darin leben – ihren Routinen, Begegnungen, Festen, Kämpfen und ihrer Widerstandskraft. 

Wir laden Kunstschaffende aller Disziplinen ein, Arbeiten zu „Urbanes Leben“ einzureichen, eine Gruppenausstellung, die die vielen Facetten des zeitgenössischen Stadtlebens erkundet. Statt eine einheitliche Sicht auf die urbane Erfahrung zu präsentieren, sucht diese Ausstellung nach vielfältigen künstlerischen Positionen, die die Komplexität, Diversität und den sich wandelnden Charakter von Städten weltweit widerspiegeln.

Wie erleben wir öffentliche und private Räume? Welche Geschichten entstehen auf Straßen, in Stadtvierteln, entlang von Stadtsilhouetten und in übersehenen Winkeln? Wie prägen Migration, Identität, Technologie, Ökologie, Handel und Gemeinschaft unsere urbanen Lebensräume? Wo finden wir in der Stadt Schönheit, Spannung, Zugehörigkeit, Isolation, Hoffnung oder Widerstand?

Künstler:innen sind eingeladen, sich dem Thema offen und fantasievoll zu nähern. Einreichungen können sich dem urbanen Leben durch Beobachtung, Abstraktion, persönliche Erzählungen, gesellschaftliche Kommentare, spekulative Zukunftsentwürfe oder poetische Interpretationen widmen. Ob Ihre Arbeit die Lebendigkeit der Metropole feiert, ihre Ungleichheiten hinterfragt oder verborgene Rhythmen und Beziehungen sichtbar macht – wir freuen uns auf Ihre individuelle Perspektive.

Wir begrüßen Einreichungen von Kunstschaffenden aus allen Disziplinen, darunter unter anderem:
•    Malerei, Zeichnung, Skulptur, Fotografie, Druckgrafik, Installation
•    Video und Film, digitale und neue Medien, Klangkunst, Performance
•    Textil- und Faserkunst, Mixed Media
•    Soziale Kunstpraxis und interdisziplinäre Projekte
 

Mit dieser Ausstellung möchten wir einen Dialog anstoßen, der den Reichtum, die Vielfalt und die Komplexität urbaner Existenz widerspiegelt. Zugleich möchten wir Kunstschaffende zusammenbringen, deren Praxis neue Sichtweisen auf die Orte eröffnet, die wir bewohnen.

Wir freuen uns darauf, Arbeiten zu entdecken, die die vielen Realitäten des urbanen Lebens herausfordern, inspirieren, hinterfragen und feiern. Kunstschaffende aller Medien und in jeder Phase ihrer künstlerischen Laufbahn können sich bewerben.

Teilnahmebedingungen:

• Ca. 20 Künstler:innen werden ausgewählt.   
• Jede/r Künstler:in erhält bis zu 2 laufende Meter Wandfläche
• Es können bis zu 5 Werke eingereicht werden
• Je nach Größe werden 2–3 Werke ausgewählt
• Teilnahmegebühr: 80 € 
• Verkauf: 15 % des Erlöses werden an die RG10 Gallery gespendet

"Urban Life"

Cities are places of movement, memory, contradiction, and transformation. They are spaces where communities flourish, cultures intersect, histories accumulate, and futures are imagined. Urban life is shaped as much by its architecture and infrastructure as by the people who inhabit it—their routines, encounters, celebrations, struggles, and acts of resilience. 

We invite artists from all disciplines to submit work for Urban Life, a group exhibition exploring the many dimensions of contemporary city living. Rather than presenting a singular vision of the urban experience, this exhibition seeks a diverse range of artistic responses that reflect the complexity, diversity, and evolving character of cities around the world.

How do we experience public and private space? What stories emerge from streets, neighbourhoods, skylines, and overlooked corners? How do migration, identity, technology, ecology, commerce, and community shape our urban environments? Where do we find beauty, tension, belonging, isolation, hope, or resistance within the city?

Artists are encouraged to approach the theme broadly and imaginatively. 

Submissions may engage with urban life through observation, abstraction, personal narrative, social commentary, speculative futures, or poetic interpretation. Whether your work celebrates the vitality of the metropolis, questions its inequalities, or uncovers hidden rhythms and relationships, we welcome your unique perspective.

We welcome submissions from artists working in all disciplines, including (but not limited to):
•    Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Photography, Printmaking, Installation
•    Video and Film, Digital and New Media, Sound Art, Performance
•    Textile and Fibre Arts, Mixed Media
•    Social Practice and Interdisciplinary Projects

Through this exhibition, we hope to create a conversation that reflects the richness, diversity, and complexity of urban existence while bringing together artists whose practices offer fresh ways of seeing the places we inhabit.
We look forward to discovering work that challenges, inspires, questions, and celebrates the many realities of urban life.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

• 20 artists will be selected.
• Each artist will have max. 2 linear meters of wall space and can thematically use several rooms.
• Submission: up to 5 works can be submitted, of which max. 3 will be selected for the exhibition.
• Participation fee: €80
• Sales: 15% of proceeds go as a donation to RG10 Gallery.
